Ok, so I promised to keep you informed, and I couldn't contain my excitement anymore!
Let me fill you in on what happened on Tuesday...
8:30am - Phone call from Rascal's mummy, saying she is acting strangely, and would I pop over to keep her company. I dashed over a soon as I could!
I arrived, to find a very happy Rascal who was wagging her tail and looked pleased to have some company. We shared some equally terrified looks, and she looked so desperate to get rid of her enormous puppy tummy.
She kept crouching down as if to do a wee, but nothing was coming out. I was told a ball of water usually pops out before a puppy (good preparation for the real thing! I thought...)
By about 13:30, she looked like she was trying to push regularly, so I placed her in the whelping box and sat tight, with gloves, scissors and a towel.
The first puppy popped out but Rascal was lying down. I removed it from its sack, got rid of all the mucus and gunk from its nose and mouth and gave it a gentle brush dry with the towel to get a reaction. It was moving! Next step, was to cut the cord. The bitch (I can say that here, it's in the right context!) would usually clean, cut and sort out her pups, but Rascal was so big, she couldn't reach around. I cut the cord (was scared I may be cutting the wrong thing, think ticking bomb and lots of wires to cut, and you're not sure which one to cut), and the puppy was reacting, it was yelping and just gorgeous. I cried.
Rascal's mummy steamed through the door just in time to see the new born. We then spent the rest of the afternoon just amazed by the next 5 to come. Wow. What an experience!
We had another surprise of the day. 4 hours later, another gorgeous puppy arrived! Very strange if you ask me! We thought something was still inside - and thought it was either the after birth, or a still-born (which we tried to ignore).
So! Here are some of the glorious pictures!
We are giving one to my mummy for her Christmas present, as she has always wanted a 'Rufus', but I tell you what, after bringing them into this world (well 4.... Rascal did the rest!) I seriously want one. The Boy however, won't let me. So, if you think this is unfair, PLEASE COMMENT! Hopefully it will help him change his mind!
Much love,
CG & puppies! xxxx

Bring on the protest! We cannot let The boy get away with me not having a puppy!!!!!
I think you should be allowed one, after all you helped deliver them! Plus Rufus might need someone to play with...

So adorable and how awesome!! What an experience to be there for the birth and help Rascal get those lovelies out! Good luck!
@LaDonna They are cute, aren't they?!
It was SUCH an experience, one I want to do over and over again, as I just felt so proud, but it also gives you the biggest high. I can kind of understand why midwives do what they do, it's such a brilliant feeling! x
